Some real swords can't cut for toffee. Some are too soft or too brittle. Some have problems with weak tangs. These swords from Huanuo Forge, have been well tested for strength and cutting ability. I use the dao pictured on this page for regular cutting and I love it. I've had it for a couple of years and haven't had to sharpen it yet.
Each of these swords has it's own page of information with a resizable picture gallery for close up views of the details. Click on the links to reach the pages. These are modern swords reproduced to be as close as possible to the Qing dynasty originals (1644-1911).

Round Grip Battle Dao carbon steel blade. Picture copyright: Scott Rodell, sevenstarstrading.com | I have this one and have been using it for a couple of years. I'm very happy with it. It's a powerful sword and easily cuts water filled Coke bottles and small branches. After all this time it has only minor scratches on the blade and I've never had to repolish it. It's really great value. The Dao is well balanced and I use it for forms and basic cuts practise as well as for cutting. If you're looking for a real sword and want a sabre, this one is worth considering. It's a modern sword remake of the Willow Leaf Dao.
