why.... & when..... did ancient weaponry start ?

Answer:

As long as human beings have existed, there have been weapons. In fact, perhaps earlier than man. I'll take one reference source for several incidences - The Bible.

It is recorded that God made garments of skin to cover the first man and woman after they lost their innocence by sinning. That would have meant using a knife.

It is also recorded that an angel with a flaming sword guarded the entrance to the Garden of Eden after the first man and woman had been expelled. In this case, it was to protect them from themselves.

Then, very soon after that Cain killed his brother Abel.

The boy, David, used a sling to kill lions, bears and a gigantic enemy soldier.

So the very earliest writings of human history document weapons. They were used for protection, murder, and killing animals to eat or make clothing from. Not much has changed.

Also, weapons have been found buried in graves from very early Chinese history. The earlies written records are on Shang Dynasty oracle bones. Before this time, there was no written history so it's difficult to pinpoint an earlier time. However, weapons were quite advanced by that time and were used for war, killing animals for food, and even human sacrifice.
